Northwest Insurance Agency is currently a full service program administrator providing national programs to Allstate agents and independent agents. We originated from Northwest Insurance Agency, Inc.

Northwest Insurance Agency began serving the California North Coast in 1978, as a retail insurance agency, in the small coastal town of Gualala, under the name of NorCoast Insurance. In 1979, the agency acquired the Fort Bragg office of Coastal Insurance, and in 1983 acquired the Penner Insurance Agency in Ukiah. In 1983 the agency name was changed to Northern Coast Insurance, and continued to expand into Willits and Lakeport. In 1988, Sonoma Central Insurance was acquired which marked the agency's first expansion into Sonoma County. In 1988, the agency opened the current corporate headquarters in Santa Rosa, California.

In July of 1994 the agency name was changed to Northwest Insurance Agency, Inc. In 1995 expansion continued northward and offices were opened in Crescent City and Eureka. The most recent addition to the retail agency came in 1997, when we began operations in the city of Napa.

The agency had grown to include seven retail locations, yet continued to seek out new opportunities for growth. In 1997, Mike Sullivan and Dennis Stanley founded Northwest Comp, a wholesale division of Northwest Insurance Agency, Inc. The wholesale division began operating on the strength of a partnership with Allstate Insurance that allowed Northwest Comp to broker workers' compensation insurance for over 1,000 Allstate agents throughout California. The workers' compensation program became a quick success, and additional programs were developed and implemented. In 2001, Northwest Comp expanded its' distribution to Allstate agents throughout the western United States.

The efficacy of the Allstate program allowed Northwest Comp to capitalize on new market opportunities by diversifying into additional areas of program administration. The distribution system was expanded to provide programs and products for Independent agents throughout the country.

Northwest Comp has developed into a full service Program Administrator offering nationwide programs. To better reflect the scope of our current operation, Northwest Comp has changed its' name to Northwest Insurance Agency. As we continue our journey, we are focused on the vision of becoming the most successful program administrator in the country!
